Description:

Rolac 10mg Tablet contains Ketorolac tromethamine, which is a type of painkiller. It is used for the short-term management of sudden and moderately severe pain, typically occurring after surgery or related to musculoskeletal issues. Short-term pain refers to pain that lasts for five days or less and is characterized by its sudden and sharp nature.

It is important to note that Rolac 10mg Tablet is not recommended for use in patients who are already taking other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin, or in individuals with advanced kidney, heart, cerebrovascular, or gastrointestinal diseases, or a tendency to bleed easily. Before taking Rolac 10mg Tablet, it is advisable to inform your doctor if you have liver, lung, or heart diseases, high blood pressure, or inflammatory bowel diseases.

The use of Rolac 10mg Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy, especially during the last three months, and in breastfeeding mothers. It is also not recommended for use in children below 17 years of age. Elderly patients above 65 years of age should use Rolac 10mg Tablet with caution.

It is important to avoid smoking and consuming alcohol while taking Rolac 10mg Tablet. Common side effects of Rolac 10mg Tablet include nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, or swelling. If these symptoms worsen or persist, it is advised to consult your doctor immediately.

How does Rolac 10mg Tablet work?

Rolac 10mg Tablet works by blocking the effects of prostaglandins, which are substances produced by the body in response to injury or inflammation. Prostaglandins are responsible for causing pain, swelling, and inflammation at the site of injury. By inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, ketorolac reduces pain and inflammation.

Additionally, ketorolac also inhibits the transmission of pain signals between the nerve endings and the brain. This further contributes to its analgesic effects, as it helps to reduce the perception of pain.

By blocking prostaglandins and inhibiting pain signals, the ketorolac tablet provides relief from moderate to severe pain, such as post-operative pain or musculoskeletal pain.

Side Effects of Rolac 10mg Tablet
  • Swelling of face, lips, eyelids, tongue, hands and feet
  • Unexpected weight gain
  • Skin rash
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Abdominal pain

  • Yellow-colored eyes or skin
  • Diarrhea
  • Drowsiness

Quick Suggestions:
  • Take it with food or milk to prevent stomach upset.
  • Follow the prescribed dose and duration recommended by your doctor. Long-term use can have serious complications like stomach bleeding and kidney problems.
  • Be cautious of dizziness, drowsiness, or visual disturbances. Avoid activities that require concentration, such as driving, if affected.
  • Do not consume alcohol while taking Rolac 10mg Tablet as it can increase drowsiness and the risk of stomach issues.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart disease or stroke.
  • If using the medicine for long-term treatment, your doctor may monitor kidney and liver function, as well as blood components.
  • Regular exercises, such as jogging and walking, can help stretch muscles and prevent spasms, tears, and sprains.
  • Consider massages for additional relief.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures (freezing or hot) and opt for loose-fitting clothing instead of tight garments.
  • Get enough rest and sleep.
  • Change your position every two hours to prevent pressure sores.
  • Apply ice or heat packs for 15-20 minutes to alleviate muscle spasms.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Indication of Rolac 10mg Tablet

Rolac 10mg Tablet is primarily used for the short-term management of sudden moderate to severe pain, typically after surgical procedures. It is also effective in providing relief from musculoskeletal pain, which includes pain in the muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, or tendons. Rolac 10mg Tablet can help alleviate pain in conditions such as fractures, sprains, strains, and other musculoskeletal injuries. However, it's important to note that ketorolac should be used for a short duration (up to five days) due to its potential side effects on the gastrointestinal system and kidneys.

Pharmacology

Ketorolac tromethamine, classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is a powerful analgesic. Its main mechanism of action involves the inhibition of the cyclooxygenase enzyme system, which is responsible for the production of prostaglandins. By inhibiting this enzyme system, ketorolac tromethamine reduces the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in pain and inflammation signaling pathways.

It's important to note that ketorolac tromethamine primarily functions as an analgesic at therapeutic doses, meaning it primarily provides pain relief rather than exerting a significant anti-inflammatory effect. This distinguishes it from other NSAIDs that are commonly used for their anti-inflammatory properties.
